Get Out There!
Spanning the roaring Yellowstone River makes Gardiner the ideal location for whitewater rafting. Spend the day seeing Paradise Valley from a unique and breathtaking perspective. You won't regret it. From Gardiner to Livingston, MT is a 50 mile stretch of nature and highway known as Paradise Valley. True to it's namesake, the valley is flanked by the majestic Absaroka and Gallatin Mountain Ranges and home to some of the world's best fishing, hunting, hiking, and photography. Or, head directly up the Jardine Road (5 miles) to beautiful Bear Creek Trail and beyond, for horseback riding.

Horseback Riding
In Paradise Valley we recommend Bear Paw Outfitters. They are a multi-generational family business that knows this area extremely well and are very safety conscious while providing a great guest experience in the mountains. What a great way to explore the area sans car.
-
Fly Fishing
World class access points all along the Yellowstone River between Gardiner and Livingston. There are a number of fly shops and guides throughout the valley. We recommend Angler’s West in Emigrant, MT. The best fly fishing conditions will depend largely on the river’s flow rate and water clarity.
-
White Water Rafting
On the Yellowstone River you will find fun for the whole family. There are a number of outfitters in Gardiner, many of which can also pair horseback riding trips with your rafting excursion. A few that we recommend are Yellowstone Raft Company , Wild West Rafting, and Flying Pig Adventures.
-
Hot Springs
Chico Hot Springs Resort is a fun option for soaking in natural hot spring pools, and they have a few dining options -- a poolside grill, the saloon, and a fine dining option (reservations recommended). The Chico Saloon often has live music as well.
Just two miles north of the Dreamcatcher Tipis is another natural hot springs option. Yellowstone Hot Springs is the newest in the area with a hot pool at 106, a cold plunge at 60, and a larger pool whose temperature ranges from 99-103.
Ask for a coupon to Yellowstone Hot Springs at our check-in desk and tell them Dreamcatcher sent you!
-
Hiking
For the more adventurous, summit Emigrant Peak, the most prominent peak in the valley with an elevation of 10,926’.
Jardine is a beautiful area with numerous hiking options, including a jaunt to Casey Lake.
A visitor’s favorite is the hike in Paradise Valley at Pine Creek Campground. A mile up the trail brings you to a stunning waterfall where there are nice photo opportunities.
We recommend taking your bear spray (we have spray available to check out at the front desk).

Wildlife
A popular spot to scope out grizzlies from your car is a beautiful drive out the Tom Miner Basin.
The Tom Miner Basin can currently be accessed by Old Yellowstone Trail Road between Dreamcatcher Tipis and Emigrant. There are several carved pullouts on the way from the tipis on US 89 that overlook the river in the beautiful, rocky Yankee Jim Canyon.
Don’t want to travel very far? Then head to downtown Gardiner where the entrance to North Yellowstone is and you are guaranteed to see the local Elk.
